I want your healing journey to go faster than mine did.
Are you overwhelmed by your body?
Is your body’s capacity holding you back from living the life you so badly want?
Do stress and emotional burdens often make your symptoms worse?
Chronic illness is often intertwined with nervous system dysfunction. Research in neurophysiology and psychoneuroimmunology show that chronic stress can disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to fully live life the way you want to.
Food, supplements, and other lifestyle changes were a big part of my healing journey, but it took me a long time to realize the role my autonomic nervous system was playing in my health and my ability to thrive in life. The somatic work I do with clients helps them to retrain their nervous system, allowing it to shift from to a much more functional state that supports you in achieving your best physical health.
What I’ve Learned
Figuring things out by yourself requires a lot of trial and error. Trial-and-error learning is often ends up costing a lot of precious time and emotional bandwidth. I did it this way for years and it sucked. I want your journey to be faster and less overwhelming than mine.
I’ve gained helpful insights, strategies, and exercises from thousands of hours of experience working intimately with hundreds of clients as they rebuild their health. I also draw upon my knowledge of the human body gained from my graduate degree in nutrition and functional medicine and extensive somatic training. And, most importantly, I bring immense compassion to my sessions that stems from my own first-hand experience rebuilding my health.
Let’s look at your health situation strategically, in a step-by-step process, so you can expand the life you live! I’ll teach you how to listen to your body & better understand its guidance on your specific body’s needs.
My Health Journey
My symptoms started to really impact my quality of life when I was in high school, but truly I was unwell since I was a young child. At 17, I got a bad case of mono and never fully recovered; my life revolved around sleep after that. By age 23, my health deteriorated so badly that I had to quit my job as a science teacher mid-year.
I spent my life's savings trying to regain my health. My body was my greatest teacher. It helped me tell the difference between healing truths and health fads. After many years of searching for answers and gathering the pieces of my health puzzle, I was able to identify the core problems behind my many symptoms, effectively resolve those core problems, and regain my health.
My Education
In pursuit of my own healing, I attended graduate school to study chronic illness. I received a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Nutrition and Functional Medicine for chronic illnesses, graduating with honors. A master’s of science is a specialized degree that requires 2-3 years of intense study on a specific topic (for me, that specific topic was understanding the mechanisms behind chronic health issues). You must first have a bachelors degree and have completed extensive coursework in Biology and science-related courses before you can apply to graduate school programs like mine. My bachelors degree is in Biology Education (Biology is the study of living things). After graduate school, I completed basic and then advanced training in massage therapy and lymphatic therapy, to better understand physical body injuries, chronic pain conditions, and the lymphatic system.
During graduate school, I learned about toxic heavy metals and other key issues that result in chronic health issues. Later, I found the Medical Medium information and saw that it was accurate to what I was learning in graduate school about toxicity’s role in chronic illness AND it clued me in on the role persistent viral and bacterial issues play in chronic health conditions (published medical research is just starting to come out on this in recent years). Additionally, I continue to learn many insights from data tracking with my clients and from staying up-to-date on the latest scientific breakthroughs regarding the health consequences of chronic stress and trauma, persistent viral and bacterial issues, and environmental toxicity.
My most recent years of training in somatic work have focused on the role that the autonomic nervous system can play in health and chronic illness. This has allowed me to help numerous clients who are still stuck with mystery chronic symptoms even after making significant food, supplement, and lifestyle changes to better support their health.
