Kelsey voller, MS, SEP

Somatic Practitioner & Chronic Illness Strategy Expert

I’m Kelsey. I lost my 20s to chronic illness, but never gave up. Once I identified the core problems driving the long list of chronic symptoms I experienced, I was able to recover and I’m now building my dream life in Maui, Hawaii. Since recovering, I’ve helped over 3,000 clients on their health journey.

I specialize in the neurobiology of trauma (i.e. how overwhelming experiences, especially early in life, affect health).

I help my clients to recalibrate stress response patterns that may be affecting digestion, hormones, fertility, immune function, fatigue, sleep, and emotional regulation.

Our experiences educate our nervous system’s “self-protection software.” When our nervous system experiences a BIG stress or a chronic STRESS, the nervous system adjusts to anticipate and prepare for more of that stress. This is why if you get hit in the face by something, you may notice you will flinch when similar situations arise later - your nervous system anticipates what’s coming next based on what you’ve experienced in the past. The self-protection software prioritizes your SURVIVAL above all. But, what if you have been through really hard things that are over now, you’re ready to move on and THRIVE, but your nervous system is still responding to life from that survival state? It’s costly. It’s exhausting. And, eventually it tends to impact physical health substantially. Survival responses help you survive, but at a cost.

Nervous system survival response patterns reallocate your body’s resources AWAY from:

  • digestion (survive now, digest later)

  • immune balance

  • libido & fertility via reproductive hormones (survival time isn’t when the body wants to get pregnant)

  • hair growth

  • skin integrity

  • sleep quality

  • thyroid/metabolism (conserve energy for survival responses)

  • logic, empathy, impulse control (allowing survival reflexes to be prioritized for quick reactions)
